This is the only surviving Spanish Galleon to escape the devastating hurricane of 1622, which sunk 21 other ships carrying gold and silver back to Spain. Since this vessel carried the manifest lists of all other ships in the fleet, as well as the content of their cargo, this is how we know of their loss and the eventual recovery of one of the ships, the Nuestra Senora de Atocha.
